First Descents
offers young adults with cancer (ages 18 to 39) a free weeklong outdoor adventure experience where they will learn to surf, kayak and climb. Each session is limited to 15 participants and ensures individualized care, medical attention and an intimate experience with fellow survivors. These programs are available to young adults with cancer regardless of financial means. All program costs (food, lodging and activities) are provided free of charge. Travel scholarships are available and are awarded based on need. The programs are offered from April through October and take place across the U.S. and internationally.
